I'm so excited! I've been lucky I've been able to spend time around Denali, Anchorage, Fairbanks, the Aleutians (Unalaska, one of the most spectacularly beautiful places on earth: volcanoes, glaciers, and seabirds. Does it get better than that?), and the Slope, and not-so-secretly would give my eyeteeth to drive the haul road. When I was a kid, London made me dream of visiting there, and somehow I've lucked into a trip (or so) a year for the past 6-7 years. To me, it's beautiful. I've always gone for work, so haven't gone as a part of a group or on a cruise, but I get to work and with the locals and native AK'ians, so get to the good stuff without the crowds. Though I haven't ever been down to Valdez, which is where lots of the "Lower 48" gets images of AK from. The millions of colors I've seen in AK slays me: from the thousands of blues found in ice "down south" and "up north" (and they're different!), to the greens of the taiga, to the browns of the tundra I'm a big fan. don't know that I could ever pack up my heat-loving life to live there, but I am so grateful that I'm getting the opportunity to go there. I wish I had time on either end of this trip to do some seabird-watching and halibut fishing (both reported to be stellar in PWS).

Ski Buddy? I am looking for a ski buddy. Eldora mostly, I am going skiing this season and I just want to find a partner that wants to go. It would be nice if you were cute and can ski well. I hit mostly intermediate , but have gone down a lot black diamonds and even a few double black diamonds in my day. However that was many years ago and I am really just getting back into it. I know a lot of people snowboard these days, and I am not against it, but I have a ski rack on top of my little BMW but and would like to "ski" with someone (I don't snowboard). I would drive us, but I guess the bus from Boulder to Eldora is a good way to go too, from what I hear.
